Five years ago, the world of digital marketing looked very different than it does today. As networks grew and gained in popularity, more and more people started using these platforms as a source of news and information.
More and more marketers also found a new way to look at, measure, analyze, and learn from social data. Advances in the type of information available (and accessible) from a wider array of social networks, mixed with advancements in technology and data science, now allow us to better understand who our audiences are and what they actually care and talk about.
That’s Great And All…
Promise aside, figuring out how to use social data to truly connect and engage with audiences is challenging. To answer some of our questions around this, we sat down with Gartner’s Jenny Sussin to discuss the state of the social media analytics industry.
We spoke about how we got to now and shared ideas on where we thought companies were in terms of their maturity and use of social data. We also asked Sussin where the industry is headed and what companies and brands should do to move forward with advancing their analytics strategy.
If you haven’t had a chance to watch this video, make time to do so (it’s worth it, we swear).
